Ballhaus Berlin Hostel is a unique and historical red-brick building in the Mitte district in the heart of Berlin, near many sights, museums and theatres. The building houses the hostel as well as Berlin's oldest ballroom and the traditional Alt-Berlin pub.

The hostel is decorated on a variety of themes ranging from the Golden 1920's to the upcoming 2020's. All dormitories come with lockers and provide access to shared bathroom facilities.

Balhaus Berlin Hostel is just around the corner from the Natural History Museum and the Berlin Wall Memorial

Naturkundemuseum Underground Station is just a 2-minute walk away from the hostel. Alexanderplatz with its shopping opportunities is easily reached by public transport, as is the Brandenburg Gate and the UNESCO Museum Island. The club and party districts of Friedrichshain und Kreuzberg are easily reached within 30 minutes.

Hello, the main train station is exactly one kilometer away from our hostel and can be reached very quickly on foot or by public transport.

Dear Guest, Check-in is available throughout the night. We use a self check-in terminal, all you need is the Ballhaus Berlin Booking number to check-in.

Hello, we have no facility to store luggage. The nearest lockers are located at Berlin main station. In fact, check-in is most of the time available from 2:30pm on.

Hi, I would like to know is there any locker or services which keep luggage for safety ? If there is any charge fee for that I would like to know as well.

Our reception is manned from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this time you are welcome to leave your luggage there. However, we cannot assume any liability for this, since our staff is not always at the reception and cannot always kept an eye on it.

Dear Guest, thank you for your Message. There are hairdryers for rent available at the reception. The reception is open between 10:30am to 5:00pm.

Dear Guest, the kitchen is located at the 3rd floor. It is not equipped with an kitchen stove. Metro station is one minute away, "Naturkundemuseum". Next supermarket like five minutes.

What would you highlight about Ballhaus Berlin Hostel
Very Good
Hostel was in a great location (close to restaurants, supermarket, walking distance to tourist attractions) ,beds were comfy, facilities were clean and gave us the opportunity to meet some really cool people!
There were no blinds or curtains in our hostel room which was annoying when your bed is right next to a window come sunrise. There was also no hot water during our stay.

Perfect!
We were shocked that everything was so clean, no bed bugs, the showers were very clean all day long, the self check-in system is very easy, the building and everything that comes with it was very cool! We very much enjoyed our stay here and would absolutely come back.
The lines for the showers were sometimes a little long but it was highly manageable, overall i have nothing to complain about, maybe just oiling the doors of the rooms so they don’t creak as much when you enter and everybody’s asleep haha! (but again this is a very small thing)

What would you highlight about Ballhaus Berlin Hostel
Good
You needed your own lock and i had none ofc, the beds weren't comfy, while not too small, the pillows also weren't comfy... we were on the 1st floor and right under us was the bar, which meant that due to heat + noise with open (and closed windows) it was hard to sleep, luckily we have curtains around the bed and the windows, which helps. Breakfast was okay, i was hoping for a few more things, but they did serve freshly cut fruit, you just had to wait for some things a bit. The staff was VERY helpful and kind, even gave us a voucher for a drink since the machine didn't have any left, and didn't have any negative word to say when i had to go back to the reception a few times due to the keycard not working. Staff gets a 10/10, ran late to breakfast, they let me pick stuff regardless and were very well-mannered. Free drink voucher which is for small beers or sodas iirc, quite cool to have. Lively bar for the better and the worse too
Windows were faulty, which is fine since it was hot, but when it's cold that'd suck, the keycards kept not working, staff was happy to help each time tho! Beds were uncomfy, same for pillows, , not too small, just not comfy compared to the ballhaus hostel. Small 1 person bathroom with sink+shower meant that if 1/6 stayed in there for a while, you weren't showering. Separate toilets were a positive tho! All in all not the best, but a mix of this and the ballhaus woulda been perfect, definitely fine to be at if you are traveling and don't mind a bit of noise tho !

Good
Nice location, efficient check-out.
I haven’t seen a single person from the hostel crew. Efficient, but a bit dehumanised. Human contact is usually nice.
